More consumers prefer the Nikon digital SLR camera over the Canon digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera claims an Australian research Company. According to Canstar Blue the Nikon brand is still one of the strongest camera brands in Australia .
According to Steven Mickenbecker, the head of research at Canstar Cannex Nikon, a company which dates back to 1917, had performed strongly in the eyes of its customers.
"This is an impressive result for Nikon, who have taken out the number one spot in an incredibly competitive market. They not only won the key category of overall satisfaction, they came first in every category tested, including price, image quality, functionality and design.
"The demand for DSLR cameras continues to grow as the products become more affordable and user-friendly. Our study showed customers are very happy with their camera across the board. All brands scored at least three stars, or six out of 10, in each category.
"However, it did highlight some shared gripes about the bulky size of the DSLR camera and the cost of purchasing additional lenses.
"We launched this study to give Australians a free online resource to help them purchase a DSLR camera. It offers people a simple way to learn from the experiences of other consumers and is essentially a guide to product excellence as voted by customers," Mr Mickenbecker said.
The Canstar Blue study asked consumers who had bought a camera in the past two years to rate their satisfaction with their camera brand in each category. The survey was undertaken in conjunction with professional market researchers, Colmar Brunton.
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results that come from buyers of DSLR's within the survey group. To qualify, the camera has to have been bought within the last three years.
