Telescope Use with a Nikon D3100

Q. What sort of telescope can I use with my Nikon D3100? I have been told that I could use a 70mm telescope to capture great photos of the sky at night, does anyone know which telescope would be suitable and would I need some sort of adaptors to attach my Nikon D3100?

A. Most telescopes have a T-mount fitting. Check that yours does, or that you can buy one. If the telescope doesn't have T-mount, see if it has a 1.25" push-fit eyepiece. This is pretty standard. If it does, you can buy a T-mount adapter for the 1.25" eyepiece. Next, you need to buy a T-mount to Nikon adapter. So you will end up with Telescope - T-mount - Camera. This will allow you to take photos directly from the telescope.
